My Life In Pictures...

15 October 2014

shucking the last of the corn during the 1st cool spell of the season // furry hitchhiker and big boobies
// seriously fancy? nah... // cleaning up camping gear for a future road trip
// R.A. Miller work at work // Toby cleans up well // covered bridge adventures
// wild chestnuts (um, didn't like them at all!) and persimmons (much better)

While I still haven't started logging in some serious ideas into ye olde blogge journal, I've given the layout a slight revamp and made it look a bit more, well, me than the utilitarian look before.  I still haven't improved my Instagram game though.  Two pictures of my boobs?  I'm not thinking my shots out beforehand...yeesh.

Let's see...what shall I talk about?  Gah!  Why is this been turning into an awkward thing as of late?  I feel like I'm on a first date in high school before I knew better...  Don't talk about too much silly stuff.  Whoops, too late!  I mentioned boobs.  Twice.  Don't talk to much about yourself.  Um, it's a blog about my life.  Don't mention weird hobbies just yet.  Too late!  Everyone knows about my covered bridge obsession.  You get the idea here...

Well, that said it's time to go to the bakery and make a bunch of pies for the day.  I've got a gluten-free option that I've been selling for a bit, and it sells like crazy!, and I'd like to share it with you all soon.  Maybe a with a bit more panache than this post has, eh?

Happy Wednesday!

My Life In Pictures...

28 February 2013
Siestaware rainbow mugs for the cheap / thrifted crotchet / just missed this series / kitty and stripes / fun socks are fun / a box of goodies including my new favorite coffee / Brady's work closes down / seaweed / chopitup / cooooookies / making me smile / dinner times

This week started off awesome enough - fun times in the bakery, sunny weather, a rare day out with the hubby - but has quickly gone dooooooooooown hill.  I'm going to complain for just a second, ok?  Can you bear with me to let me vent?
  1. Vision Video on Broad Street closed after 27 years.  Athens lost a landmark and my hubby lost his job.  Double suckage.
  2. School is kicking my ass.  Enough said.
  3. I found out that I won't be hiking the Appalachian Trail in March due to work obligations.  I'm beyond disappointed but I'm going to aim to meet my friend sometime in April.  I am going to do this.
  4. My sleep schedule is all screwy so I'm tired and grumpy...and I have cramps.  Help?  Somebody?
  5. My old email that I never use anymore got hacked and folks have been getting SPAM (like, porno spam) for weeks and I had no idea.  Gah, I'm sorry about that...
Ok, now I have to list some positive things in order to show m'self that it isn't all bad.  It isn't, right?
  1. My thrifting adventures have been awesomely productive.
  2. The 3rd season of Sherlock starting filming.  YES!  Pssst...the link has some spoiler alerts.
  3. I complete two of my assignments before they were due...even though I only did it to avoid my Research Methods class stuff.  But, hey, it's still something.
  4. Tullah Belle's surgery went off without a hitch.  Now this is something to grateful for, eh?  It's a big relief!  Oh, and a shout out to UGA's Community Practice Clinic for taking such good care of her...
  5. My husband has done nothing but be supportive, kind and funny during my slump...even though he's dealing with a number of his own issues.  I won the hubby lottery for sure.  Right now he's making faces at me so I'll crack a smile...goober.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings.  Some days are harder than others...

And now for something completely different...

Starting off with a laugh to try to keep the quasi-positive trend going...

Did you know that I'm working on a feminist book club with Jennifer from grimmricksen?!?

Free Art To The People in Atlanta - #FAFATL.  Amazing stuff!

Have I ever mentioned my obsession with chickens?  This photo series is making it worse...

Live Through This

Granted Clothing's creative cardigans = love.  Especially the 'mountain range' one...but they're a bit lot too rich for my blood.

Test tube chandelier for the scientist (mad or no) in your life...

My new favorite tumblr.

What if best-selling records had been books instead?

I need to make sure to make time to do the things I love...

Craiglist chair gone wrong...

Who knew that milk could make-or-break a relationship?

Inspiration to be more real on the blog...

Frat guys doing something that goes against the norm...

This.

And this.

Now I'm off to get caught up on that schoolwork and maybe later I'll squeeze in a glass of wine with an old friend...*fingers crossed that my mood improves*

Hope you all have a great Thursday!  And thanks again for sticking around to listen to me whine...

If you believe there's nothing up his sleeve, then nothing is cool...

11 November 2012

Well, I was going to write about my upcoming transition to veganism but I just don't have it in me today.  I don't have any energy left.  Much like the moon in the picture, I've had a bit of a crazy time that seemed to come from nowhere.  Plus, I've been so busy and now I'm so behind on so many things but I all I want to do is pull the covers up over my head and yell 'nononononoidontwanttodoanything'.  Bleh.  I think I'm going to have to do it...turn off the computer, grab a book from the teetering stack beside my bed, drink a cuppa tea and just breathe.

Good night to you all.  I'll be back tomorrow...and hopefully in better spirits.

PS - If you've never seen the moon guy who got an eyeful of spaceship (ouch!) then go here.

DIY Fail...

25 July 2012
Today I woke up with a spring in my step and a mental to-do list a mile long.  Oh yeah, I was going to get things done!

And then this happened.

I got sucked into a supposedly easy DIY sewing project via Pinterest.  I found some overstock fabric at the thrift store, rustled up some thread and blew the dust off of my old machine.  I was ready.  Now, I haven't sewn for years, and I thought this might be a good foray back into the land of pinking shears and fast-moving needles.   Wrong!  Very, very wrong.

It. Is. Hideous.

When a mere bundle of brightly colored fabric can suck two hours of your life away and reduce you to tears, it may be time to put down the to-do list and go have a lunch splurge at one of your favorite restaurants.  Like I am.  And then you should go see a $1 movie.  Like I am...with my sweet (and very confused...Jen, why are you crying?) husband.  And then maybe, and most probably, everything will be better, and you can accomplish all the things you wanted to do and more!  Including fixing that monstrosity of a dress.  *fingers crossed*

I hope that everyone has a great day today...and has much better luck with crafting than I did.  It wouldn't take much.  Ha!

I'd also like to thank all of you who responded so kindly to my Two Things post.  Your support means so much to me.  And I loved that so many of you shared things about yourself!  Getting to know each and every one of you is the highlight of my day...

UPDATE:  Mood much better despite the fact that the dress was not salvageable at all.  I used the material to make a couple of bean snakes and I'm now working on a different project making a skirt/tank combo.  *fingers crossed*
