Rainy Day On The Porch...
03 June 2015
It's been unbelievably dry here in Athens so any rain that shows up and stays awhile is a much needed, and welcomed, sight for sore eyes. A nice thunderstorm rolled in the other day and I took the opportunity to snap a few photos in that darkish yellowish light that always seems to accompany these rollicking afternoon summer storms. There's lemongrass (which smells amazing right now!), one of my cilantro plants is blooming like crazy, I've got flowers on my pepper plant and the gardenia bush right outside the screen door is sending off its perfumed scent in huge waves. Oh, and there's a Clawdia Kitty in there too...
Our porch is really old and you can tell it in these pictures...but I like the peeling white paint and the webs that catch all the mosquitoes. The house itself is over 100 years old and I often wonder about the folks that lived here before me. The ones that planted the gardenias and azaleas, the ones that surround our dwelling, years ago. It's a good thing to ponder on a rainy day, eh?

I love this post so much :) It's neat to think about the people who lived in a home before you. The idea of sitting on a porch during a thunderstorm with all of those delicious smelling plants sounds AMAZING!
