Guess what happened! Guess. Just guess. Give up? Um, I had a day off and I drove off into the wild blue countryside. Am I predictable or what? Wait, don't answer that...
This time I headed towards Washington, GA to visit the downtown and a local state park but I had to turn around when it started pouring buckets of rain. Guess that dry spell might be over for some spots in the state, eh? Weirdly enough, or not so weird for an almost summer day here in Georgia, it wasn't raining just a few miles away from town so I was able to explore around Washington if not in it.
I found quite a few abandoned buildings in the Hogan Community area as well as a family cemetery and one of the most beautiful Magnolia trees I've ever seen in my life. The sky was huge but this tree made it seem so small in comparison. I have no idea how old that tree actually was but I'd say it was preeeeeetty old. Considering that many of the churches in the area date back to the late 1700's and that an important battle for the American Revolution was fought nearby, I'd stick with my preeeeeetty old statement.
It was partly cloudy where I was at, in the low 80's (woohoo!) and the sun was constantly disappearing for moments on end. My photography game, which isn't strong to begin with, was not on point but I still had fun taking the photos. I honestly don't know a more enjoyable way for me to decompress on a day off than to ride around in the countryside smelling fresh cut grass and lemon tinged Magnolia flowers, and snapping a few photos to share...

These photos are SO cool! I love old houses and cemeteries. Aaaand really big old trees.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mindi. We are so lucky to have a good amount of them around here including some of the prettiest oaks I've seen outside of coastal Georgia. Maybe next time I'll try to get a picture of one! :)
