Guest Post - Autumn Bee From The Busy Bee...

With Halloween just around the corner, oh-my-gosh-2-days-really?, there is just a smidgen of time left to create some great DIY fun for you and yours using some simple supplies.  Luckily, we have one last (but definitely not the least!) awesome October guest blogger and supporter of Grits And Moxie (thanks so much!) to show you what you can make with a gourd, some paint and a little time.  I'd like to welcome Autumn Bee to the blog again (yay!) so she can show you how to make the Halloween/fall magic happen...

Hello everyone! I'm Autumn Bee from The Busy Bee and I'm so excited to be guest posting here at Grits and Moxie for my second time! Today I'm showing you all a fun pumpkin painting tutorial! Doing these pumpkins took much trial and error, but I finally love how they turned out!
I did two different styles of pumpkin using the same color scheme. The larger of the two I did a tentacle like theme and for the smaller I did an ombré pumpkin with a spider.

What you'll need:
Pumpkins(size and number are your preference
Sponge bushes
A small paint brush
Puff Paint (I chose white)
Acrylic paint (colors are up to you)
Paper plates (used as a work surface)

Before you start anything prep your work area. Clean up your pumpkins so there is no dust or dirt on them. I used the paper plates as a work surface because it was easy to rotate around and I could just recycle when I was done!

1// After everything was all set up I used gold acrylic paint all over the entire pumpkins and the stem using a sponge brush. It took about three coats for them to be solid gold. Make sure you let each coat dry for awhile before you add another layer.
2// Using a different sponge brush I whipped out my turquoise paint and sponged the top of one pumpkin, starting heavy at the top and dragging the paint down the sides of the pumpkin. Then I used some more gold towards the bottom layering it lightly over the turquoise so the edges weren't so harsh and it gave it more of an ombre effect.
3// Time for puff paint! On the pumpkin with the turquoise already on it i used the puff paint to draw a spider, though I'm sure there are all kinds of fun things you can do with it.
On the larger pumpkin which was still gold I used the puff paint to draw a circle design coming down around the sides of the pumpkin. I think it sort of looks like tentacles!
Let your puff paint dry!
4// When you're all dry, go back in with a small paint brush and fill in the puff paint circles with your other paint color.
Now you have some crazy cool pumpkins!

Thank you Autumn Bee!  Your work is lovely, as always.  You've got a knack for eye-catching crafty work!
