My day so far...

Shovels and Rope has a new album out, so I'm going back and listening to some of my favorite Cary Ann Hearst tunes from her album Are You Ready To Die? The title track is on repeat here at the Keene-Carrington house, and Hells Bells has a toe-tapping and table thumping style that I really dig while painting chairs. I was lucky enough to meet Cary Ann and see her perform with The Moth when their tour stopped at the independent bookstore in Thomasville, GA a few years ago. One of the best live performances I've ever seen!
Packing: Tomorrow is Brady's birthday so we're heading off to see his folks for the day. They are making us a fantastic dinner...*drool*...and I can't wait to see their doggies - Lola, Mr. Bean and Daisy! Saturday and Sunday I'm off to help some friends move/clean in Valdosta and Brady's off to play a private gig in Atlanta.
Hoping: The 20 hours of eye-straining work over the last two days, involving updating and sending out resumes, and applying for various jobs online, pays off in the upcoming weeks. I've enjoyed my summer off but I'm itching to start a new career...hopefully at the library at UGA! Although I still haven't given up my dreams on writing that best-selling novel. I can always do both, eh? Please, can I do both?
PS - Positive vibes are always welcome.

| it's my darlin' |
I'm looking at backlogs of street fashion blogs and pretending that I'm in a rainy fall day in the Pacific Northwest instead of a sweltering and sunny 98+ degrees in Georgia. Also dreaming that I own that bag.
Inspiring:
Our breakfast adventure this morning was incredibly eye-opening and productive...in two very different ways.
Inspiration #1 - I think the blog ideas we came up with over eggs and toast are so exciting and interesting and I can't wait to start on them! And I hope you'll like them too! I've discovered that Athens brings out so many of the best things in me - desire to travel, to be a better person, to explore, to grow, to create.

Thrifting:
Lovely little wood slat pots for $1! I'm torn what to use them for...so many things come to mind. Storage for desk goodies? Kitchen utensil holder? Candle holders? Or, what they were originally intended for, plant holders? Any ideas or suggestions?
Crafting:
We found some vintage bamboo chairs just stuck out on the side of the road. What what? They are a bit beat up and were obviously not loved very much (read: at all) but I've started work to help change all that. A little paint. A little TLC. A little recovering of the seats. Just a sneak peek picture is all you get right now since I'll be unveiling the makeover here on the blog later this month.
Laughing:
Toby has to have regular baths with a specially medicated shampoo that helps to control his skin allergies. That will help explain the enormous amount of Toby hair in-and-around the sink in this photo. Toby detests these regular baths and is, um, a bit dramatic in his displeasure...flopping around like a seal and acting like all his bones left his body. Silly, silly dog.
I hope your day was filled with wonderful small adventures...
Happy Thursday everyone!
Today, I'm thankful for today.

Thanks for Inspiration #1. I've had a lot of bad days as of late. It's good to look at my life in general and be pleased with it, because it really is pretty good!
ReplyDeleteAlso, lovely post all-around. Excited to see the final outcome of those bamboo chairs. :)
