Anyhoo, something I would like to do start doing on occasion is something called Two Things. I'll share Two Things that you might never get to know about me in my general posts. It'll also give me a chance to a) be more self-reflective and b) share more about myself in an honest manner. Some of these things will be funny, some will be embarrassing, some will be informative and some will be just plain silly. I'm not promising that this will be a regular thing - not after the self-revealing paragraph above - but I'd like to try to do it every once and a while. And I'd love it if you shared some things with me too! I'm starting to make friends here in the blogging world, and I'd like to continue to learn and grow with my readers, friends and followers.
Two Things About Me
1. My dream car is an old Volvo Station Wagon...1970's-1980's. In blue. *sigh*
I love Volvo's so much! My obsession for them began when I had an 88 Volvo 240 DL during my late teens and early 20's. That car was the best thing ever and I put over 40,000 miles on it in one year driving back and forth from where I lived in San Diego county (Los Gatos represent!) to where my parents lived on Saint Simons Island...and it never faltered. I still dream of its creamy brown leather seats and adjustable map lights and sunroof. While we love the 'pumpkin' in many ways - cheap! reliable! orange! - it just isn't quite the same. One day I'll have my station wagon...one day.
2. I hate chewing gum.
I hate the taste of it. I hate the feel of it. I hate it when other people smack/chew/chomp it. I hate to see it in people's mouths when they open mouth smile - um, Britney Spears...I'm talking to you! I hate the smell of it. I hate to step in it. Did I mention I absolutely abhor/detest/loathe/hate gum? Yeah, I do.
What things do you love or loathe? What inspires or depresses you? What do you dream about? Come on, share with me!
Today I am thankful for revitalizing hot tea on a busy Saturday morning. Yum!

there is actually a gum chewing disease phobia thing ... i can't remember what it is, but my brothers bestfriend had it in highschool if someone was chewing gum in class she would start to hyperventilate and cry. then in college her room mate had to sign legal documents that she wouldn't chew gum in the dorm room. hopefully you don't have that !
ReplyDeleteWhoa. My loathing is pretty intense but luckily I don't cry and the like when I see/hear/smell it. I think my overall dislike comes from having a huge hunk of my waist length hair chopped off when a stupid boy in middle school stuck his wad of Double Bubble in it. :(
ReplyDeleteI am, however, deathly afraid of clowns and will push down small children and old people to get away from the greasepaint. Coulrophobia. And they seem to know it and go right for me. Bastards.
I loved your Volvo too. Those map lights sure were good for an impromptu dance party, right? Ha! After we parted ways, I went through a couple of Volvos myself, probably thanks in large part to you. Ha!
ReplyDeleteYep! That car was something special alright. I totally remember you with your long hair and gauzy skirt and clogs rocking out with your own 'mic'. Good, awkward, tumultuous life-changing times...
DeleteAnd many a road trip night I would watch the stars rotate via the sunroof. Magical stuff, that. :)
